GPS. Post-System Geometries in Contemporary Art

The “GPS” catalog, which accompanied the temporary exhibition of the same name, aims to explore a changing reality, even the hot current state of the local art scene. It is represented by the works of 14 young artists from the most prolific artistic areas of the moment – Bucharest, Timișoara, and Cluj. “GPS” maps out this new artistic landscape and its creative mindset, specifically relaxed, no longer a prisoner of the grand idealistic and progressive theories of the abstractionists from the ’60s-’70s, yet no longer aspiring to the formalistic and often decorative perfectionist aspirations of the late ’80s abstract modernists.
